Another Slow Sunday...

Bank Holiday Weekend saw us all up Roundway, Martin was more excited than a kid at Christmas with the prospect of flying his Fosa so was up extra specially early. The rest took a more adult approach and got there after 1. Lots of equipment lying around probably approaching 20k totalled up! 20mph with good lift, 1/3 ballast for me and a whole hill to play with... Perfect!

The Rumpster giving it legs made sure the Fosa was safely away... Don't bother asking the Rumpster to demonstrate F3F pumping.

A Naza equipped DJI Flame Wheel flew very well in the wind, a little footage with my GoPro strapped to it in the vid

Geoff giving a Banana a blowie...
Tim's beautiful Rheinland, did not fly. The gent is made from Oasis covered in bog paper. Tim always recycles everything.

Richard disappeared looking for his glider... after about an hour we all felt guilty and joined in the search

The Pesky glider was found in one piece 30 meters away, Richard has no excuse, not only was it blowing a gale up there the glider was electric! Pints all round Richard i think.....

"I'm not playing any more"

No need for instruction... Plug in the speakers and turn the volume up to ear splitting level....

A brilliant day with good lift and a good laugh, what more could you ask for?

Strange Forces at work in Zummerzet

Sunday 19th August

As I drove to the SJ's secret satellite site in Zummerzet I should have taken the hint from the clues I saw on the way over.
As I exited the village of Faukland a pigeon flew across the road in front of me, nothing unusual about that apart from the fact it was upside down and wearing socks. I then noticed the River Yo just outside of Frome was running UP the hill. At this point I should have turned round as I knew it was likely things would go wrong.

To be fair from my point of view the day was good fun but there were a few injuries along the way. I have compiled pictures of the Top 5 ( worst) landings of the day

Nicks Funjet, the little fin on the back took a bit of a hammering but it lived to experience an even worse landing later

Bob's spitfire. This was the maiden of this bad boy. It was reckoned to be the result of a crappy little spectrum receiver. To quote Pete Gilbert UK F3B champion 1946 ''if the only people that made radio gear was spectrum, I would take up Fishing'

After failing to take the fin of the Funjet, Nick had a go at taking the front off, but again the little foam plane took it like a man and ended up intact

This is Gilberts Pike superior that he did in fact win the British F3B championships back in 1946 . He elected to park it on top of a tree, actually he didn't elect at all, he completely misjudged the landing. Fortunately with my brains and Ollie's base jumping skills we managed to get it down

Spot the difference between the starboard and port wings, the funjet finally gave in

This is the receiver that was in Bobs Spitfire. The lesson has to be , if it hasn't got a wrapper- don't use it

Now for the video, volume up and HD. See if you can spot the spitfire careering out of the sky in the distance

LIPO ANNIHILATION......

We at SJ's like to pass on our valuable experience and knowledge in all areas of modelling to our valued readers.. well i do Martin has nothing to impart. I know you have been asking your self time and time again "what happens when a hammer and a lipo cell meet" I conducted an experiment to show you exactly what happens....

"The action sequence shown in the video was performed by highly trained stunt performers, no animals were injured in the making of this video"

Make sure you never hit a Lipo cell with a hammer! SJ's public service warning finished.

Whats pink and stiff?

An average day at the local, a few foamies, couple of balsa bashers... I did my best on the vid, however there was quite a few very ugly people about. Music up LOUD!

Baudis Fosa F3f

The Fosa is ready.

Here are a few pictures of it taken today, I am hoping for a maiden tomorrow ...

These Futabas were installed back at Baudis. I have to say they have done a cracking job, it is all aligned beautifully and is as solid as a rock

A pair of Graupners in the fuselage. You can see there is not much room as one is stuffed ( again beautifully) under the fuselage ballast tube. There is also more ballast in the wings. As Rob would say, '' you can't have too much ballast '' .

The wing fits like a glove. There are 2 wing joiners in this Baudis Fosa. This is the best fitting wing I have ever seen.

This is it. The Baudis Fosa F3F

Indications are that it will be a SSW tomorrow afternoon so I am hoping to get out and maiden her.

It has to be said the build quality is outstanding and to quote rob ''this is the stiffest thing I have ever had in my hands"???....I told him that was not something he should admit to!

DJI NAZA GPS Return to Home Try out

The quad is now fitted with a GPS system

Rob has convinced me that tomorrow we should take the Quad the best part of half a mile from my house, stick a go pro on it , hit the return to home button and see if it will fly back and land in the garden.

I snuck out last night for a sneaky practise, probably 150 yards. This is what happened. I only hope the Saturday half mile over peoples houses, roads and gardens goes as well. I must be mad.....

Turn the volume up, sit back and enjoy.

Stime eye wen tu thee quacks az me rumatics be plain up!

Zummerzet Pete sent in to SJ's central his version of events... Quite frankly i prefer it to Martins. Sit back grab your cider, drop that hay bale and watch...

Thanks again Pete for a wild and wet day, and to Ollie for dogged winch line retrieval and fantastic editing skills. Pete summed him up in his own unique way..

“Eees a septional youngun thissen. Is unner stanin ov Jogger fee be wonnervul”

i managed to find a translation of this here! Not really sure i got it right..

Zummerset in the rain

Sunday 5th

Myself and Robert took up an invite to drop in on one of the satellite branches of Slopejunkies over in deepest darkest ''Zummerset'' .
Early indications were that Pete (I've never known a night like it)  had pulled a master stroke with a real  bobby dazzler of a field, unfortunately he had forgotten to call off the torrential rain and thunderstorms.

There was alot of time spent huddling under trees during the showers. We have heard alot of stories about the types of things that happen in zummerset. I chose to stay under my own tree and no get involved in any of that funny stuff

Pete launches the starlight from his home made winch
The winch is made out of a pram he nicked from the local tesco express, a cortina starter motor he had in the garage and fishing line from the Standerwick booty . Not sure where the facial expression and the Ali G hand came from but this guy is fast becoming legendary.

This little pavilion was obviously built with us in mind.

This little guy flew into a tree, luckily the tree was unscathed

Now for the video, usual story get the volume up, full screen and HD it.
